After surviving the worst Stalinist years in Prague, where Sarant and Barr led 30 engineers building the Eastern bloc's first computer-controlled anti-aircraft prototype, the families move to Leningrad. Sarant is now 'Filipp Georgievich Staros', Carol is 'Anna'.
